I'm contemplating transforming the Yamaha YDS-150 into a MIDI soprano saxophone. The YDS-150 serves as a great digital soprano saxophone already. To fulfill the requirements of a fully operational MIDI wind instrument, however, enhancements such as a bite sensor and octave key improvements are necessary, both of which I've successfully implemented based on my past work with the YDS-120.
Although I initially considered outfitting the EMEO as a MIDI soprano saxophone, its heavy weight proved too cumbersome for my preference. Conversely, the YDS-150 offers a lighter alternative and boasts customizable fingering along with an extensive range of keys spanning more than three octaves, rendering it highly practical as midi wind controller. I'm presently arranging financing for this endeavor.
